Get married in one of Canberra’s most historic establishments, with an hour of photography, and enjoy a “cake & punch” reception with up to 25 people for $3,200.

In the olden days, weddings were a bit different…

Before weddings became big social events from the ‘60s onwards, they were typically smaller gatherings of family and close friends in the local church, followed by a low-key reception in the community or church hall where guests were served “cake & punch”. Simple, affordable & easy!

Historical significance aplenty.

Tuggeranong Homestead is a site rich in local history. Prior to establishment in 1827 it served as a location for indigenous corroborees, it has a beautiful stone barn that was built with convict labour, hosted significant social events for the entire region, and this was all before Canberra was even founded in 1913!

In later years it served military purposes, was the lodgings of historians who needed a focused environment to work, and was a setting for sport and social gatherings in the early life of the capital city. It is simply one of the oldest buildings in Canberra and is a perfect setting for your wedding.

The homestead was the home of Charles Bean and his team of wartime historians between 1919 and 1925 while they worked tirelessly on documenting the official history of Australia’s involvement in the first World War.

The homestead was a significant social and sporting hub in the region hosting tennis, cricket matches, and a racecourse. The stables were home and training ground to the inaugural winner (Spec) of the Canberra Cup in 1926, a race that still continues today.
